Biography

From the age of 12 to 15, Mark’s love of studying the guitar saw him progress from a complete beginner to passing grade 8. During this time it was clear to him that this was what he wanted to commit to and he went on to study for a Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal College of Music in London. From there he switched his focus to playing as part of the MorrisLenson Duo and together they became only the 3rd duo to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London; from which they gained 1st class honours.

In these conservatoires and in masterclasses outside of them, Mark has studied with a long list of leading performing and teachers in the classical guitar world including Gary Ryan, Carlos Bonell, Michael Lewin, David Russell, Peter Katona, Mark Eden, Chris Stell & Aniello Desiderio but to name a handful.

Formal concerts have included performing Concerto Madrigal for 2 guitars by Rodrigo with orchestra in St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square. The Duo also performed in the Bolivar Hall and all around London across a decade. He also performed in the UK premier of Watersmeet by Stephen Dodgson with John Williams as the soloist as part of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble.

Mark continues to perform in a solo capacity for a variety of social functions whilst simultaneously tutoring students of all ages in schools, homes and online.
